The Tony Williams Dance Center is presenting Anthony Williams Urban Nutcracker for its 12th season! It presents the familiar charming tale of a young girl named Clara who dreams of having adventures with her nutcracker that she receives for a Christmas present, but with a modern, contemporary twist.
Suitable for all ages, Urban Nutcracker features ballet, urban tap, hip hop, swing, flamenco, step, jazz, and traditional Chinese dancing to provide a diverse dance experience that everyone will love!
The Tony Williams Dance Center aims to provide dance instruction to a diverse urban community. This community then comes together, including the new youth company Boston Urban Ballet, Ballet Arts Centre of Winchester, Flamenco Dance Project, Sean C. Fielder, the Wondertwins, as well as several other special guest performers to provide a unique version of the classic ballet.
Especially appealing to all of you music lovers, The Urban Nutcracker combines Tchaikovsky’s original Nutcracker score with Duke Ellington’s jazz interpretation for a truly unique experience. The diversity of this music combined with the diversity of the dance as well as the people provide an inspiring beautiful performance, perfect for the most wonderful time of the year.
The performances will be held in the John Hancock Hall in the Back Bay Events Center located at 180 Berkeley Street in Boston, right in Copley Square. Opening night is December 8th at 7:30 PM and it will run all the way through December 23rd.
