New Yeah Yeah Yeahs Album in 2013

Will there be a follow up to 2009’s It’s Blitz? Yeah, yeah, yeah. According to NME, DJ Jason Bentley announced on his KCRW radio show “Morning Becomes Eclectic” that the band would have a new album in “the springtime” of 2013. As of now, and unfortunately, the promise of a new album is the only concrete bit of news. Hopes for a new album were sparked at the end of last year when frontwoman Karen O said that she had started working on new music with the band.

There were rumors that LCD Soundsystem creator James Murphy would be producing the new album after appearing in a video session with Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zimmer. However, Murphy has since denied the rumors saying, “I just did a little fun stuff, nothing big really; I don’t have time and they don’t have time. I think they’re done with their record now, I was just fussing around. I didn’t make their album. They’re just friends.” Although unfortunate, it will be interesting to see who is/was working with the band on this upcoming record.
