Within the last month, Jimmy Kimmel Live has featured a diverse array of talented musical guests including Vampire Weekend, Ben Folds Five, and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. Last Monday Aimee Mann and Shins’ frontman James Mercer also joined this list when they appeared on the late night program together to perform “Living a Lie” off Mann’s new album, Charmer. The two proved to be an excellent matchup as they traded off verses and combined their vocal skills to create beautiful harmonies. Watch the video above to view this wonderfully executed duet.
The full episode, which also featured guest appearances from Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet and The X Factor’s L.A. Reid, can be viewed online at abc.go.com. You can also view an additional, unaired performance of Aimee Mann’s “Labrador” here.
Charmer is Mann’s 8th studio album as a solo artist. The Berklee College of Music alum was also the original frontwoman of Boston-based New Wave band ‘Til Tuesday and earned both Academy Award and Grammy Award nominations for the song “Save Me” from the soundtrack of Magnolia.
