Yo La Tengo Announce New Album & Tour

Yo La Tengo have just announced that their new album, Fade, is set to be released next year on January 15th. Their last album, Popular Songs, was released in 2009 making it a good four years since the world has heard a new, full-length from the legendary indie band (they did, however, release an EP entitled Stupid Things earlier this year). Their label, Matador, have described the album as “reminiscent of landmarks like 1997‘s I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and 2000’s And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out” and one that is “a tapestry of fine melody and elegant noise, rhythmic shadowplay and shy-eyed orchestral beauty, songcraft and experimentation.” The deluxe LP edition of Fade will feature covers of Todd Rundgren’s “I Saw The Light” and Times New Viking’s “Move To California”.

Along with their new album, Yo La Tengo have also announced a tour that will take them across Europe and most of America’s east coast and midwestern areas. Their Boston show, their first show in Boston since supporting The National in 2011, will take place at the Paradise Rock Club on February 13th with tickets on sale now for $25. To preview their new album, head over to their Facebook page or Matador’s website to watch a video for their first single, “Before We Run”.
