A Look at “Jesus Piece” by Game

Controversy doesn’t exactly come to mind thinking of an album titled Jesus Piece, that is until you see the cover art for Game’s upcoming album. The controversial cover runs the risk of upsetting and offending people, but that’s territory Game is quite familiar with. On the cover, Jesus is seen wearing a bandana with a tattooed teardrop on his face. The stained glass window behind him is designed with crosses, palm trees and marijuana leaves. Jesus is also adorned with a necklace that bears, well, his own face.

When explaining his intentions for the album, Game told Rap-Up TV, “You want to believe in God, but you don’t want to be criticized and ridiculed by people who think that they’re better than you.” He goes onto to say “I don’t want feel like I can’t love God or appreciate Jesus and have to put down my blunt.” While putting the album together, Game has already enlisted help from some industry heavyweights. Kanye West is featured on the title track of the album. Game also spoke of a song featuring Trey Songz and Nicki Minaj. The subject matter for the song? As Game puts it, “walking out of the back door of a church and falling into the front door of a strip club.”

Jesus Piece is slated to release on December 11th, and in anticipation Game has started an online promotional campaign entitled “#Sundayservice”. For the promotion of the album, Game will release a song every Sunday under the “#Sundayservice” hash-tag.

“A lot of people going to be happy about the album, there are going to be some people that are a little angry about it,” Game said. Whether it will unfold that way or the other way around, only God knows.
