Can you believe that 2012 marks 50 years of The Rolling Stones? It’s true, the band has been bringing us classic hits for half a decade and in true rock star fashion, they are celebrating the milestone with several treats that are sure to delight fans! They have released a new hardcover book called, “50” and have re-designed their classic lip and tongue logo. Additionally, HBO is producing a documentary on the group, Crossfire Hurricane, which will be the first official, career-spanning Rolling Stones documentary since 1989’s 25×5: The Continuing Adventures Of The Rolling Stones. The documentary is set to be released in theaters worldwide in November.
Perhaps even more exciting than Crossfire Hurricane is the news that the band has announced 50th anniversary shows in both London, England and Newark, New Jersey. Here’s to hoping that an entire world tour will follow. The Rolling Stones are also releasing a new compilation album, GRRR!, on November 12th. The standard edition of the CD will contain 50 tracks and there will also be an 80 track “super-deluxe” version available. GRRR! also features their brand new single, the aforementioned, “Doom And Gloom”.
Keep listening to WERS to hear “Doom And Gloom” and more great music from The Rolling Stones! Do you have a particular favorite Stones record? Let us know in the comments!
