New Releases Tuesday

Welcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS. Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.

 BENJAMIN GIBBARD: FORMER LIVES
Death Cab For Cutie singer, Benjamin Gibbard has released his first solo album under his own name. In 1999 he released a solo record under the name All-Time Quarterback!, rather than under the name Benjamin Gibbard. Former Lives features the track “Teardrop Windows”, which can be heard on WERS, as well as a duet with Aimee Mann.

JASON LYTLE: DEPARTMENT OF DISAPPEARANCE
Jason Lytle, former front man of the band Grandaddy, has released his fourth solo album since the group’s split in 2005. The California native now lives in Montana, where he has a home recording studio. This is where he recorded his latest, Department of Disappearance. Jason Lytle is also a former professional skateboarder.

MIKA: THE ORIGIN OF LOVE
British pop singer, Mika, is back with a third full-length album entitled The Origin Of Love, which features guest appearances by many artists including Pharrell Williams. The record has already been out in France since September 17th and in the UK since October 8th. Mika has described the album as having influences from Fleetwood Mac to Daft Punk.

MARTHA WAINWRIGHT: COME HOME TO MAMA
Singer-songwriter, Martha Wainwright,  has released her third album, Come Home ToMama. Wainwright got her start singing back-up vocals for her older brother, Rufus Wainwright. Her latest record was recorded in the home studio of
