Welcome to New Releases Tuesday on WERS. Every Tuesday we’ll take a look around the music scene and bring you updates on, you guessed it, the new albums coming out this week.
MUSE: THE 2ND LAW, The 2nd Law, the sixth album from the British rock band, Muse, dropped today. Bassist, Christopher Wolstenholme, is featured singing lead on two of the tracks on the record. They are “Save Me” and “Liquid State”. The band has described the sound as being comprised of synth pop, symphonic rock and dub step.
BETH ORTON, SUGARING SEASON: Beth Orton’s new album, Sugaring Season, is her first album in six years and was released today. The English Singer-Songwriter’s fifth album was produced by Tucker Martine who is known for working with artists such as My Morning Jacket and Tift Merritt. Orton recorded Sugaring Season in Portland, Oregon and it is her first album on the ANTI- label.
TORI AMOS, GOLD DUST: Tori Amos dropped her thirteenth solo record, Gold Dust, today. Amos produced the record herself and John Philip Shenale did the arrangements. Gold Dust features reworkings of her alternative rock songs as more orchestral pieces. This was inspired by a concert that Amos performed with the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam back in 2010. Some of the tracks featured are, “Flavor”, and “Silent All These Years” among others.
