Emerson College was recently ranked the #1 College Radio Station in the 2013 edition of the Princeton Review, bumping the college up three spots from last year’s list. This list was compiled using the results of an online survey conducted from over 122,000 students attending 377 institutions. This particular category was based on the question “How popular is your college radio station?” and the students chose from multiple choice options.
Emerson has been a staple of the Princeton Review College Radio category for the past several years, consistently ranking in the top 5. WERS is noted for averaging 170,000 listeners a week and raising over $100,000 on each of our annual fund drives. Unlike other college stations, WERS is made up of several different departments, including on-air DJs, web staff, music staff, weekend programming, and the AP award-winning news department. WERS was also named the Best Boston Radio Station by the Improper Bostonian for the second year in a row.
Serenata de Amor, a musical theater project spearheaded by visual media arts associate professor Claire Andrade-Watkins, was brought to Emerson this past year.
