Coldplay recently announced that they will release a new live CD/DVD on November 20 simply titled Live 2012. Directed by Paul Dugdale, who also directed concert films for both Adele and the Prodigy, the concert film features footage from various stops on the group’s Mylo Xyloto world tour including a headlining performance at the Glastonbury Festival.
In a statement regarding the live CD/DVD, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said the group sought to capture the audience participation element that has become a vital part of their concerts:
“Over the years, our crowd has become more and more a part of the concert itself. They’re loud, diverse, full of soul, and make the songs sound much better than we can on our own. We wanted to try to bottle the incredible feeling that they give us, and hence our concert film.”
This announcement comes shortly after Coldplay won their 5th MTV Video Music Award for “Paradise” earlier this month. The group has also won numerous Grammy and BRIT awards and was included in VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
