All A Capprofile: Voices in Your Head

Voices in Your Head is a co-ed a cappella group that has been making a splash at University of Chicago. The group was founded in 1998 and consists of both undergraduate and graduate students. Their repertoire includes a mix of not only pop, R&B, rock, and alternative, but also a hint of original pieces as well.

Voices is no novice to the a cappella world at large. They have competed in events ranging from the ICCA, SoJam, and Boston Sings. Last year they embarked on an east coast tour, traveling with groups such as Ithacappella, Tufts Sq!, Brandeis Voicemail, and Cornell Last Call.

The group has a bright future ahead of them. They are currently in the midst of planning their first west coast tour in 2013. Voices is also in the process of creating a double-EP. Although their latest album release was only in May 2011, they are back in the studio and creating some more fantastic a cappella.

The music that Voices in Your Head has released now is beyond compare. Their single “Titanium” made it on to Voices Only 2012, which is an a cappella compilation album showcasing the top hits of a cappella groups in that year. Also, the group has released another single to build up to the debut of their double-EP. The release date has yet to be determined but from what they have come up with so far, it will be worth the wait.

“We Found Love” is the second single that has blown many other Rihanna arrangements out of the water. Voices has transformed the pop anthem into something far beyond it. The masterful vocal percussion sets up for the chilling first chord. Continuing to explain divine this arrangement is will not do it justice. You can check out “We Found Love” on iTunes or on their website.
