Riddims Watch: Hot Chocolate Riddim

The Hot Chocolate Riddim is one of my favorite riddims this far for 2012. This riddim came out in the beginning of the year, February 2012, but is still one of the popular riddims of this summer. It was released by DJ Smuf who is associated with 12 to 12 Records. Look out for more music by DJ Smuf because this is a hot riddim. The bass, the beats, the artists, everything about this riddim screams dancehall in the 1990s.

The Hot Chocolate Riddim is a mix between old school and new school due to the characteristics of the artists and the vibe the riddim gives off. Young, fresh, new dancehall artist Zamunda makes a name for himself right here on this riddim with his single, “Clean Fresh”. Khago is also featured on this riddim. His song, “Dem Nah Worry We”, is another of his experiments with music. Khago is known for doing all types of different music including reggae. Lady Saw never fails to disappoint her fans. Her hot single “Like Mi Mate” is an anthem for the ladies. Tifa AKA dancehall princess also has a message for the ladies. In her single, “Wife Mi Up” forced Jamaica recognize her talents, especially the women. Richie Spice and Voicemail, “Whe Mi Hear” is going to be a dancehall classic. This song is the reason the Hot Chocolate Riddim has a old/new school vibe to it. Potential Kid with, “She Say Ah Suh Nice” has the most popular song on this riddim. Make sure to listen to both the clean and raw versions of these songs! Find Ninja Kid and Pamputae on this riddim. Tune into Rockers, Mon-Fri 7-10 for nothing but the best reggae!
