For this week’s Timeless Tuesday, let’s take a trip to Shaolin. But before we get there, let me mention that this past weekend in California, the eighth annual Rock the Bells festival took place. It featured artists like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Nas to name a few. The festival was available for live streaming online and most of the photos of the performances are available here.
The festival started back in 2004 based around the reunion performance of the legendary rap group the Wu Tang Clan. The Wu Tang Clan also decided to shoot a documentary about this show and everything that was going on with the group leading up to it. The picture is of the faithful Wu Tang Clan fans at that show. Let’s take this Timeless Tuesday to remember why the Rock the Bells festival is so important to Hip-Hop. This year welcomes the return of DMX to the rap game. It also welcomes newcomers like Black Hippy to the industry. Rock the Bells is a great avenue for artists to showcase their talent and I hope it only continues to grow in the future.
