Lana Del Rey to Model For H&M

While popular and financially successful, Lana Del Rey is far from universally acclaimed. The singer has often been criticized for her weak live singing but has already made the next move in becoming an icon, modeling for the H&M Fall line. Modeling seems like a natural move for Lana considering the inspiration she takes from Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Jackie Onasis, and other “very, very beautiful people”. Rather than modeling something expected like blue jeans or swimsuits – or an American flag and nothing else – she’s showing off the upcoming lines.

Even though I’m a guy and definitely not the target for this ad whatsoever, I feel kind of “meh.” Lana’s got a future in fashion, but this shoot doesn’t do her any favors. While trying to evoke a ’50s chic, her hair looks enormous and often like it weighs so much that it’s pulling her head to the side. As expected though, not a single ounce of joy or smiles in any of the pictures. Even though these sweaters might keep you from freezing, it doesn’t make you want to cuddle for warmth with the ice-cold Lana Del Rey.

Does seeing a pouty Del Rey make you want to buy a sweater? Let us know in the comments section below.
