Rufus & Chaka Khan – “Sweet Thing” VS Mary J Blige – “Sweet Thang”
I love the song “Sweet Thing”. This song came into the music world in 1975 with soul group Rufus and their lead singer Chaka Khan singing the hell out of that song. The title of the song explains it all: it’s sweet. She sings about a lover that doesn’t belong to her and belts out how much he means to her regardless of their situation. Of course the queen of Hip Hop R&B, Mary J Blige, did a cover of that song and it was fabulous. However nothing beats the original with Chaka Khan – it’s sweet and soulful.
