Riddims Watch: Controversy Riddim

On the new Controversy Riddim from Cash Global Records, you can find nineteen artists in fifteen minutes, all with their own distinctive style and flow. This riddim features a high energy, club friendly, dancehall groove with a particularly full production to create a powerful mix of sound. The groove is held together by a synth and bass line that echos the drums, with a layer of marimba on top to add melody and texture. Most of the artists are relatively small names with the possible exception of Kiprich and Macka Diamond. Due to its length alone, this riddim is a great showcase of a huge number of dancehall artists, providing a solid groove to bring their own style to. While some of the individual tracks are noticeably better than others in terms of vocals, there is enough variety on here to make sure everybody will be pleased by something within this riddim. This is a solid club ready riddim that is well worth your time, so hear this and others like it on WERS.org and on weeknights 7-10 with WERS Rockers, Boston’s home for Reggae!
