Every Tuesday, 889@Night takes time to honor a snapshot in Hip-Hop history. This week we will be honoring Rick Ross aka Ricky Rozay!
Let’s call this edition of Timeless Tuesday the BOSS edition. The picture above shows Rick Ross and Jay-Z in the studio while creating their song “Free Mason” off of the Teflon Don album. This song was dope because this was the first track where Jay-Z addressed all the rumors about him being a Free Mason and part of the Illuminati. The song was a clever play on words because Ross also had a friend named Mason who is currently incarcerated. Listen to that song here.
Even though Rick Ross has his own label, he still has a solo deal on Def Jam which makes Jay-Z a constant collaborator. Rick Ross’ new album God Forgives, I Don’t is available in stores today and features Jay-Z again on a song titled “3 Kings”. Tune into 889@Night over the next coming weeks to hear songs off his fifth studio album!
