The Velvet Underground and Nico Deluxe Reissue in October

It’s one of the most popular album covers from the ’60s and is reprinted and reposted nearly everywhere imaginable nowadays. It’s time The Velvet Underground and Nico’s popular self-titled debut from 1967 will be treated to a deluxe reissue to celebrate the record’s 45 anniversary. On October 1st, the album will come out on Universal and you can run out and get your hands on the new six disc set at Newbury Comics or your own local record store.

In addition to the regular takes, there are alternate mixes on the records as well as live recordings, practice sessions, and more. The set will also include both stereo and mono versions of the album, Nico’s 1967 solo debut, Chelsea Girl, and a live show from Columbus, Ohio (the location is a little random, but still exciting). Rare cuts “Miss Joanie Lee” and “Walk Alone” – along with several other songs – were recorded in a January 1966 rehearsal at Andy Warhol’s Factory and will also be on the set. All in all, it looks like the six disc set won’t filled with the nonsense and trivial changes often seen in reissue sets.

We still have to wait a few more months until it’s released, but The Velvet Underground and Nico 45th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue will definitely be worth checking out!
