Riddims Watch: Karnival Konneck

With Boston’s Caribbean Carnival quickly approaching, Rockers on 88.9WERS has found just the right riddims to get you ready to jump and wave the flag of your people! Released back in February – during the actual Carnival time of the Islands – and coming to you from Bambino & Coppershot Music, Karnival Konneck Riddim is a small but classic-punching Soca mix.

There are only three tracks, but each one is a unique collaboration of musicians who are ready to fuel some Carnival – or Karnival – festivities. First off the mix is “Again” by Assasin & Annya Li; it’s a fun ode to Carnival and all the traditions that come with it. Next is “We Ravin” by Trever Off Key & Skinny Fabulous which is a great flag waving song; it’ll have you ravin from the first note to the last. Lastly, Bunjie Garlin & Beenie Man along with Trever Off Key came together to produce the grand finale, “Carnival Is Our Life.” If none of the other songs get you in the Carnival mood, this one is sure to do the trick.

All three songs are upbeat, with similar tempos, which will get even the most persistent party pooper moving in their chair. You can’t help but smile when you hear the artists sing about such a time honored tradition, and all the fun times that come along with it. From little kids just being introduced to what Carnival is to old timers who have been partying for years, everyone is sure to enjoy these songs! Heck, even when Carnival is nowhere close, you should play this mix just to get you in a good mood!
