New Supergroup Divine Fits Announce First Live Shows

If you haven’t hear of Divine Fits yet, don’t worry. They’re the newest “supergroup” made up of members of Spoon, Wolf Parade/Hansome Furs, and New Bomb Turks – more specifically Britt Daniel (lead singer of Spoon), Dan Boeckner (singer and guitarist for Wolf Parade and guitarist for Handsome Furs), and Sam Brown (drummer for New Bomb Turks). The band announced in late June that they would release a full album titled A Thing Called the Divine Fits on August 28. Check out a trailer for it here. You can also listen to two tracks off the album: “My Love Is Real” (their debut single) and “Would That Not Be Nice”.

Now, in the past week, Divine Fits has announced their first four live appearances. The first three shows will take place in each band member’s hometown (quite clever) leading up to the band’s performance at San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival. The band starts in Austin, TX (hometown of Daniel), then hits Montreal (Boeckner) and Columbus, OH (Brown). As a promotional tool, the band has hidden ten “golden tickets” to each show in copies of their debut single (the aforementioned “My Love Is Real”) which will be sold at independent record stores in each of the three cities. It’s all very exciting news, especially for those three cities, and I hope after the release of their album they embark on a national tour so the rest of us can enjoy.
