Mixtape Mayhem: Fantasea

She strikes again. Azealia Banks has been all over the blogosphere, for beefing with Iggy Azalea and TI, firing her management, and deleting her Twitter (and then re-opening it) just to name a few of this diva’s deeds. Now she’s back with a brand new mix tape, answering the cries for “more, more, more.”

This project boasts nineteen new songs, showing off more of Bank’s quick punch lines and vocal work. Guest stars include Shystie and Styles P. On this tape, she has chosen to show off her range, singing the hooks and lyrics on a number of tracks. Sticking to the trend of her EP, 1991, and her previous singles, the beats on Fantasea are dominated by a strong bass-line paired with unique combinations of drums and house synths. Not once listening to this will you be sitting down. Her lyrics stay true to the other work that we’ve seen her put out; Azealia lets us know she has no time for the haters, has some meaningful words on trying to find someone who can provide her “fantasia,” and shouts out her fans and other “liquorice” girls multiple times. Some favorite cuts are “Nathan”, “Luxury”, and “L8R”. Unfortunately, all of her lines are far too vulgar for this article. In any case, this is a tape that you need to download. Azealia is putting in real work here, and this is too big to miss out on.
