Fun on the Playground: Bedford

If you are looking for some summer fun in the sun, tell mom and dad to pack up your beach towels, snacks, and sunscreen and head on down to Bedford, MA. Bedford is located near Burlington, Lexington, and Concord, so you will have many other places to go visit as well!

If the heat is too hot to go run around outside, don’t fret – Bedford has just the thing for you and your parents too! Spring Brook Park is a man-made filtered water facility that will have you either relaxed or running around for hours! You will find sand surrounding the water making the whole thing look like a beach! There are also picnic areas, woodland, and grills to make some delicious hotdogs or veggie burgers. If you love sports and running around, Spring Brook Park contains a small basketball court, a volleyball net, swimming lap lanes, and toys that you can use in their playground! And if you are too small or don’t feel like going into the water, there is a sprinkler park waiting just for you!

If safety is important to you, you will be happy to know that Spring Brook Park has 20 lifeguards and swim instructors that are certified in water safety, have all passed lifeguard training, first aid, and professional rescuer CPR! Also, Spring Brook Park is a smoke free area where smoking is not even allowed in the parking lot. If you are interested in visiting Spring Brook Park, they are open 10am – 7:30pm when the gate closes! It is $7 per person, but the max for a family is $25.  Spring Brook Park is located on Springs Road just before the V.A. Hospital.

However after a long hot day whether you were running around or not, I’m sure you need something to cool you down. Well, I always travel to Bedford Farms when I need a tasty cool treat! Now the name here is a little deceiving; it actually is an ice cream parlor and not a farm. However, they do make their own ice cream and yogurt. You may take my word for it that it is DELICIOUS! My personal favorites are Green Monster (for a mint taste), Toll House Cookie (for a traditional flavor), and peanut butter yogurt (when I want to be a little healthier). No matter what, I’m sure Bedford Farms has a flavor just for you! They are open until 10 pm every summer night, so there’s always enough time for you to get a nice cool dessert! Bedford Farms is located at 18 North road in Bedford, MA. Keep your eyes open, because who knows  - maybe you will see me there one night!

These are just some fun things to do in the town of Bedford, however there is still many other things to check out! Tune in next week to find out more fun playground events just for you this summer!
