Bobby Womack – “I Can Understand It” VS New Birth – “I Can Understand It”
I love the New Birth version of this song, it’s so soulful and raw. You could hear the passion in the lead singer’s voice. It’s a lot more upbeat than the original song with Bobby Womack. You can’t help but jam to sounds of the brass instruments. Womack’s version is more subtle with less instruments; it is just really him singing over his guitar and drums. Although, Bobby Womack is great for writing songs that deal with relationships – especially the issues one encounters when involved with someone. I like him better as a songwriter rather than a singer.
