WERS Makes “Boston’s Best”

“During the workweek, WERS offers a much-needed alternative to the ubiquitous Top 40 tracks that reign supreme on most dial stops. Staffed largely by Emerson students, WERS can boast all the best traits of a great college-radio station—fresh tracks, of-the-moment updates, an absence of obnoxious ego—without any of the shortcomings. Tune in before dark to hear the likes of the Head and the Heart, Delta Spirit, and Jack White, or wait until 10 pm for 889@Night, a solid block of underground hip-hop.”

The Improper Bostonian’s “Boston’s Best 2012″ list has finally come out… and WERS has won Best Radio Station! It’s our second year in a row winning the award, which means we’re even more thankful for the title. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for our wonderful listeners, from Boston and beyond! Thank you for all of your support!

The 2012 list compiled offered plenty of pleasant surprises in food and fun, and the musical selections were on point in selecting Boston artist Will Dailey for Best Local Album and newcomer Lady Lamb the Beekeeper as Best Local Musician. Dailey is a WERS favorite who loves coming in the studio, and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper is surely someone you must see live before the end of this year. Curious to know more? Then check out our article all about them!

The Improper Bostonian’s Boston’s Best event was just as honoring as it was fun:

WERS got to spend a night mingling with Boston’s elite at the Improper Bostonian’s Boston’s Best celebration night. From spas, vintage jewelry, and radio – if you are Boston’s Best, you were at this event at the Langham Hotel on Tuesday, July 17th. The night was staged by the great host at the Langham Hotel, creating a fun and interactive atmosphere with entertainment provided by Boston’s Best winner DJ Die Young while guests could help themselves to buffet style dinner or h’ orderves. Sponsors of the event included, Vita Cocoa, Patron, Chandon, Stella Artois, and G2O Spa and Salon. Each sponsor had their presences at the event, making signature drinks and discussing their services. The event was a really great chance to catch up on all that the city of Boston has to offer. Being born and raised in the city, I myself learned about new offerings meeting two other winners, owners of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and owner of the vintage jewelry shop, Twentieth Century Limited. And of course WERS Music Director Kendall and I made the WERS presence known, chatting it up with others who enjoy what our station offers. It was a great honor to be voted along with others who keep their business at the top of the top and to be recognized for what we at WERS strive to do every day – be the best.
