Riddims Watch: Six String Cutlass

The Six String Cutlass Riddim is a brand new riddim that just dropped this June. Produced by XTM Nation, the riddim features four different artists to round out the eight minute run time of this new groove. The groove itself is a plodding midtempo riff that prominently features a classical style guitar, hence the name “Six String” riddim. Four different artists make an appearance on Six String, including Jesse Royal, Cali P, Mikey General, and Kayla Bliss. While all four artists bring different vocal styles and flows to the riddim, all work well in harmony with the outline the groove laid out for them. Other than the guitar overdubs, the riddim is really pushed forward by the bassline, weaving in and out of the other instruments and keeping everything else in check. This riddim occupies a nice space between between a ballad and a more standard roots track. While the tempo isn’t that radically different from a lot of classic reggae tracks, the subtle melodies spliced in give it an almost RnB type vibe to it. This riddim is definitely worth a listen, so check it out and others like it on wers.org and on Rockers weeknights 7-10!
