Motown’s Senior VP of A&R, Ne-Yo released the steamy video for his single “Lazy Love” off his fifth studio album R.E.D, which is set to be released September 18th under Island Def Jam. “Lazy Love” creates great anticipation for what Ne-Yo is calling “…The most honest album I’ve ever written – almost honest to a fault.” The single describes the kind of love that will keep two lovers embraced in their sheets way past sun rise, and the video shows what is keeping Ne-Yo there: shots of him and a seductive woman rolling around in bed, pulling him away from all his responsibilities for the day.
Ne-Yo not only is hatless for most of the video, but is also showing off his cut frame, being topless for most of the shots. After watching the video a few times, I would like some lazy love time with him! This video is relating back to his earlier video for the single “Sexy Love”, where he is held up in an apartment with a woman, not to be disturbed by anything… but there is more clothing involved.
The R&B singer really brought this single back to his work before his 2010 album Libra Scales, which did not perform as well as his previous albums. In “Lazy Love”, he is describing what he does best – his intimate relationships with women – like in his singles “Mad”, “Say It”, “Closer”, “Sexy Love”, and “When You’re Mad”.
After previewing the album in New York at Def Jam’s headquarters, Rolling Stone contributor Tracy Garraud wrote, “R.E.D. is as sentimental as any Ne-Yo album, but his introspection leads to some of his rawest lyrics yet.”
“Lazy Love” is definitely the perfect addition to the weekend night R&B we provide, singing about what everyone wants to be doing late on Saturday and Sunday night; lying in bed with someone who has that Lazy Love.
Ne-Yo’s R.E.D album is set to release September 18th, and be sure to tune into the Secret Spot on Saturday and Sunday from 8 PM to 12 PM to hear the single “Lazy Love”. Check out the music video here.
