Alumnus Rob Hennigan has been named the new General Manager of the Orlando Magic, making the ’04 Broadcast Journalism graduate the NBA’s youngest GM on record. Hennigan has acted as the Assistant General Manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the past two seasons and has spent a total of four seasons with them, the beginning of which was spent as the director of college/international player personnel.
Previous to his work with Oklahoma City, Hennigan spent four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs (plus an internship) and was named the Director of Basketball Operations in ’07. During his time with both Oklahoma City and San Antonio, Hennigan worked under Emerson alumnus Sam Presti (’00), who is currently the GM of the Thunder. During the announcement on June 20th, Orlando’s Chief Executive Officer Alex Martins said, “Rob is an astute strategist and evaluator of talent who comes to the Magic family from two championship-level organizations. We feel he is an outstanding fit and the right choice to lead our Basketball Operations team in achieving our championship goals.”
Serenata de Amor, a musical theater project spearheaded by visual media arts associate professor Claire Andrade-Watkins, was brought to Emerson this past year.
