Riddims Watch: Summer Wave

A remake of last summer’s hit, the Summertime riddim was released in mid-May, the Summer Wave Riddim. This will be the feel good riddim of the season. It features Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, Popcaan, Lady Saw, Tommy Lee, Gaza Slim, and more. With all the heavy hitters on the riddim, there is sure to be a Rockers Mega Mix in the near future. Standouts are Beenie Man’s “Jamaica Celebration”, Popcaan’s “When Mi Party”, and Gaza Slim’s “Independent Ladies”; all the tracks embrace the summer and make you want to have a good time. Beenie Man starts his track with “Tonight we celebrate life, life, life,” and this idea comes through all the tracks.

The theme of the riddim is celebrating, living life to the fullest, enjoying and taking on the summertime spirit. Gaza Slim bigs it up for all the independent women who have their own and take care of themselves and Popcaan has fun with it and talks about his party life. This is the party riddim of the summer, sure to be on at all the clubs and on the trucks at carnival.
