Fun on the Playground: It’s Almost Summer!

Playgrounders and parents alike, we know what you’re thinking—with the summer vacation coming up, how are you going to survive the hot months ahead without becoming painfully bored? Fear not! The Playground is here to start your summer break off right with all the latest and greatest in kid’s entertainment and activities in Boston. Sound good? Let’s get going!

Ellis Paul at Club Passim—June 23 at 3:30

Playground parents may be recognizing artist Ellis Paul from their own iTunes playlists. Your eyes do not deceive you! Longtime Boston artist Paul created the foundation of his career with adult folk music inspired by his role model Woodie Guthrie, and has just in recent years turned to children’s music after having a few of his own. This family-friendly show is in support of his recent release The Hero In You, a wonderful album that we’ll be giving away this weekend and more on the Playground. Free Friday Flicks at the Hatchshell—All Summer!

What better way to end the week with a great, family-friendly movie on a balmy summer night… for free! Pack up the bugspray and snacks galore, the Boston Hatchshell is hosting great flicks from The Muppets to The Lorax this summer! Check out their website to learn more about Free Friday Flicks.

Big Updates at the Franklin Park Zoo—Starting This Summer!

We know, we know—it doesn’t take a genius to know that the zoo is one of the most popular summer destinations for families and animal lovers alike, but Franklin Park Zoo in Boston is gearing up for ever more sun and fun in 2012! A 72-acre playground for all zoo-goers will be set to go late this month complete with slides, climbers, play panels, and shady picnic tables for Mom and Dad. Add that to the monkey exhibit and you’ve got yourself a perfect day.
