Fun At The Playground: Arlington

Have you ever thought of visiting the birth place of Uncle Sam or a town that was founded over 350 years ago? Well now you can. Take your mom and dad (and siblings too!) to a small town in the greater Boston area. Arlington, Mass. is a town neighboring Cambridge and Belmont that is easily accessible by car or bus. There are many things to do in Arlington all year long whether the sun is shining high or the clouds stroll by!

Arlington is home of Spy Pond, a small little pond that you could either walk around or bike to from Alewife, or play in the playground! Though the pond is small, it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and you can take a nice long nature walk and try to find some new animals!

However, if you are looking for a nice leisure bike ride with the family or some friends, Arlington has the Minuteman Bikeway that lets you ride through the old historic area where in 1775 the American Revolution began. The bikeway passes through neighboring towns such as Bedford, Lexington, and Cambridge.

There are many other fun things in Arlington that are not outside as well. For instance, if you are looking for a relaxing time in the theater, Arlington is home to The Regent and The Capitol Theater. However, if you have a younger sibling or know anyone with a small baby, you can take them all out to the movies as well. The Capitol Theater features a baby-friendly movie every Monday afternoon! Though the movie is not intended for infants, it gives your parents time to take you and the your younger siblings out to a movie that they have been wanting to see, making it great family fun! Lights do not go dark, they stay mid lit as the volume goes down so that everyone can enjoy the movie!

If you are feeling crafty Arlington has something for you as well! There is a pottery store, Clay Dreams, that allows you to pick your favorite piece of pottery and paint it! Once you are done painting and letting it get nice and dry, you will be able to bring it home to hang around the house for everyone to see!

All in all, Arlington has fun things for all ages whether you want to go on a walking or biking adventure, learn some of the historical history of the town, or sit back and make some crafts. It is a fun place to visit that will make you want to go back for more!

That’s all there is for your Playground summer fun this week! Keep checking in for new great places in the greater Boston area to check out!
