On Thursday night, WERS had the privelage of welcoming local reggae artist Castafari—as well as his family and band—to the station. Hailing originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica, Castafari has been a force in the local Boston reggae scene for years. With a high energy and groove heavy dancehall style, Castafari makes music everyone can enjoy. After playing a few tracks for us including “Time,” Castafari told us about his desire to share his experiences with the world through music and to work with passionate musicians like himself. In a world of major labels stifling creativity and prepackaged bands, Castafari makes a point to do his own thing without compromising his vision of his own art. For more information regarding show dates and record releases, check out his website at Castafarimusic.com. We hope to have him back for another Live Music Week in the future and encourage everyone to check him out April 14th at the Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Kingfield. Keep supporting local artists!
