Sarah Blacker is more than a friend and fan-favorite at WERS, she’s a kindred spirit. Her new EP Perfectly Imperfect is being sold on her website for a name-your-own price starting at $7. Moving up from that, fans get all sorts of thank you gifts from a skype-songwriting lesson to an in-house concert. This kind of crowdsourcing is quickly becoming a preferred way for artists to get their music directly into the hands of their listeners and have a more communal relationship with their fanbase. Serenata de Amor, a musical theater project spearheaded by visual media arts associate professor Claire Andrade-Watkins, was brought to Emerson this past year.
