Japan’s Earthquake

Japan was not only shaken by a 9.0 earthquake on Friday March 11th, but its coastal towns and cities suffered from a terrifying tsunami and the destruction of nuclear power plants pose threats of radiation poisoning and meltdown. This week’s reporters discuss plate tectonics and Japan’s dangerous proximity to a fault line, the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, technology’s battle against natural disasters, global relief efforts, as well as Boston’s own reactions to the devastation and initiatives being taken here in the city to help Japanese victims.
